Preserving the Harvest – Canning, Freezing, Drying
– Weds Oct 02. Join members of the Cedar Women’s Institute to enjoy learning to make and can your own delicious salsa from local produce. Aggie Hall. 6:00 pm-8:00pm. $5.00 for supplies.
Hands on Cleaning of Mason Bee Cocoons
Wed Oct 9. Experience the wonders of the small creatures that pollinate our gardens as you learn to clean and care for the overwintering cocoons of your mason bees.

Wild Mushroom Walk on Holland Creek Trail
Join Jay Rastogi on this informative walk. Fungi are important in our ecosystems and many years fruit abundantly. Knowing a bit about them enhances fall outings and can provide some food. On this walk, you will look at what is fruiting and focus on the features important to identification.

Technical note: For those of you not familiar with the term PDF it just means a Portable Document Format and is a format that allows a file created in just about any software, to be read on any computer system and browser.
The Ladysmith Saltair Garden Club will resume regular meetings at 7:30pm, September 19th at the United Church Hall, 232 High St.
Following the business meeting and break, we will have the pleasure of listening to our own wonderful Lennie Clark who also wants to hear from us about our 2013 gardening adventures.
The October 17th meeting will include the popular members’ Plant Auction. Please keep this in mind as you divide or cull garden specimens over the next month. Label as comprehensively as you can.

Please consider taking an executive position for next year. We will need a new President, VP and secretary. It’s been a fun, rewarding 3 years with lots of support and assistance. Elections will be in November.
